Adventure in your own back yard!

bush walking at Fleurieu Peninsula

I love waking up early - and exploring a new place.

Walking and looking around with eager eyes, smelling the different odours in the air, losing yourself in your surroundings.  If you have travelled anywhere, you will know how great this feeling is.  Exciting and new, you can clear your head, you can lose yourself in a new place and all that it has to offer.  It is awesome.

I got up early today and I felt like I could have been anywhere in the world, I took a different route to my normal running path and it felt like I was in a new place, exploring and taking in all my surrounds had to offer.

For me it was my normal backyard - not what I consider some exotic part of the world.  It was my own backyard and this is the whole point.  You don't have to be on the other side of the country or the globe to feel like you are on holiday in a new place, exploring, searching out new experiences and living life like you have not a care in the world.  You can do this in your day-to-day life if you want to.

Look around at your own backyard and you will find a myriad of experiences and activities that can satisfy your need for adventure, thrill and adrenalin.

In my backyard, I have within 45 minutes in numerous directions surfing, sky diving, kayaking, fishing, boating, sailing, 4WD driving, bush walking, boat tours, boat cruises, train rides, wine tasting, a local brewery, cafes, restaurants, pubs, waterfalls, snorkelling, diving, paragliding, hand gliding, jet skiing, joy flights, swimming beaches, wildlife viewing spots, whales, Aussie wildlife, a bike track, skate parks, water skiing, horse riding, quad bikes and more - this is without sitting there for ages wracking my brain, these are real experiences just waiting to happen.

I live in an awesome town called Middleton, we are located 1.5 hours from Adelaide, South Australia.  It is a small town with a lot to offer and there are many exciting things to do in Fleurieu Peninsula.  Now I love to travel, I love to experience new things and I love to have adventure in my life.  It amazes me however how many people don't get out and live whilst in their everyday lives, and leave this place when they are away on holiday.  There are so many things to do if you think about it in your own backyard.  It doesn't matter where you live, if you stop, consciously think about the experiences available to you in your own backyard you will most likely be amazed at how much your own region has on offer.

Wake up and realize what you have in your own backyard.  Make the most of your day-to-day life, not just when you go on a holiday.  Enjoy it all the time. This should be a reminder to everyone that you should keep on having fun, exploring and experiencing numerous in-land adventures not only in your imagination and on holidays - but all the time in your own backyard.  There is so much fun to be had.

So I urge you to stop and think about what is out there in your own region, what fun there is to be had, be grateful, explore and soak in all that your own backyard has to offer.

Happy Travels
